AN ORDINANCE REGULATING PARKING ON PUBLIC STREETS
IN THE CITY OF AVON DURING CERTAIN MONTHS
THE CITY COUNCIL IN AND FOR THE CITY OF AVON, IN STEARNS COUNTY, MINNESOTA, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
SECTION I. It shall be unlawful for any person to park a motor vehicle, trailer, mobile home or accessory unit on a public street from the 15th of November to the 1st day of April between the hours of 1:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
SECTION II. It shall also be unlawful for any person to park on any city street during any time at which more than 2 inches of fresh snow has accumulated until such time as the snow removal crews have cleared the roadway.
SECTION III. A snow emergency may be declared by the Mayor and/or City Administrator and shall be broadcast on the city’s official radio station. In the event that a snow emergency is declared, it shall be unlawful for any person to park on any city street until the snow emergency has been declared to have ceased.
The purpose of regulating parking during the prescribed time period is to protect the general health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Avon and to facilitate snow removal.
SECTION IV. Any person violating any provisions of this Ordinance shall be guilty of an administrative offense or petty misdemeanor as defined by Minnesota Statute 609.02, Subdivision 4A.
This Ordinance shall become effective from and after its passage and publication.
